Dear readers,
It’s hard to believe that the last newsletter I sent was only about six weeks ago—what a whirlwind it’s been since Georgie, All Along’s release week! I have to start by thanking all of you, so sincerely, for greeting Georgie and Levi with such love and enthusiasm. Every single review or social media post or word-of-mouth recommendation you made to a friend…it truly mattered to how much this book has gotten seen and read, and I cannot begin to say how grateful I am.
Releasing a book is always a bit dizzying, and this time around, I took more turns than I have before—so many amazing virtual and in-person events, so many opportunities to chat with authors and readers and librarians and booksellers (and there’s still some coming up—maybe you’ll join me over on Reddit on March 23rd?). Those of you who have been following me for awhile might know that some of these opportunities meant getting out of my comfort zone (me in videos, gasp!), and I’m so glad I did, because practicing getting out of my comfort zone made it possible for me to complete another dizzying turn around that same time.
Only a few weeks after Georgie went out into the world, I finished up writing the book I’ve been working on for the last year: a big story, a road-trip story, a story with a huge amount of emotion and *angst* and humanity. I’m so, so excited about it, and while I can’t tell you too much about it just yet, I did get the go-ahead to share the title, so I thought I’d do that here!
My next book, out in spring 2024, is titled The Other Side of Disappearing.
With every book I’ve ever written, I’ve tried to push myself—to explore different tropes or narrative structures or points of view, to think about the themes that seem to me so central to the experience of modern life—all while maintaining what I love in a great romance. The heat and heart and emotion, the words and turns of phrase that make your stomach swoop and your fingers twitch with the need to keep turning pages. With The Other Side of Disappearing, I leaned in to so much of this, and I’m genuinely thrilled with how it’s coming together in its final editing stages.
I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
I’m going to keep this short, since I need to get back to it, but before I go, let me just share a few amazing reads I’m excited about/am reading/have finished recently!:
Ruby Lang’s The Art of Losing, which releases on 3/31. I’m reading this right now and it’s beautifully done—a meditation on grief and resilience and the messy experience of falling in love at an unexpected moment in your life. I’m loving it (Ruby has provided content warnings in the link above; I recommend checking them, especially if parental loss is a tough topic for you!).
Liana De la Rosa’s Ana MarÃa and the Fox, which is next up on my TBR (out 4/4)! First of all, this cover? Is it going to be on my list of top ten favorite covers? I think so! I have loved Liana’s previous historicals and I’m so excited about this new series.
Eliza McLane’s Perfect Match, a very short and steamy Valentine’s-themed novella (I know it’s March now! But short and steamy is forever, lol). Eliza also writes as Sarah T. Dubb!
Tell me in the comments what you’re reading/what you’re excited about reading!
love y’all, and thank you again, forever, for all the support.
xoxo

I have shared the story of Georgie and Levi with many friends who love romance, but are picky. Am reading some of Katherine Center's novels now.
Thanks Kate for appearing at the Tucson Festival of Books. We have attended this festival since 2010 when we moved here after retiring. I finished reading Georgie, All Along before seeing you. A wonderful read. I'm also done reading The Light we Carry (Michelle Obama) and the Landlord Wars (Jules Barnard.) It made me laugh out loud.
Currently, I am reading Making the Match by Kristen Ashley. TBR pile includes The Boys in the Boat (Daniel James Brown), The Levee (William Kent Krueger) and Heartbreaker (Sarah MacLean.)
